PIONEER CLUB SUSSEX UNITED BAPTIST CHURCH

September 2011

Dear Parent:

Thank you for allowing us the privilege of having your child join us at Pioneer Clubs this year.  The doors of the church will open at 6:20 pm to receive the children.

Pioneer Club meets each Tuesday evening from 6:30 pm to 8:00pm for grades kindergarten (age 5) to grade 5.  Each club member pays an annual registration free of $25.00(2 children $43.00; 3 children $58.00; 4 children $73.00) to receive a handbook, membership, banners and badges.  If there is a problem, please let us know.

**Regarding cancellations, we try not to cancel Pioneer Clubs during the winter months, however, if school is cancelled, Pioneer Club will be cancelled.

If you have questions about the program now or throughout the year please do not hesitate to call me, Cathy Morris at 433-2831.  A good year has been planned; so let’s enjoy our time together.

(See reverse side for upcoming schedule of events and please post at home)

Here are some additional ways that you can help to make the club successful:

  1. Encourage your child to contribute to weekly club expenses through “shares”(25 cents) and with special fees for projects.
  2. Help your child to arrive on time; pick him or her up promptly.
  3. Make sure your child comes to club prepared, with Bible as well as wearing the right clothes for club activities.
  4. Reinforce club rules and show respect for your child’s leader.  If you respect your child’s leader chances are your child will too.
  5. Praise your child’s club accomplishments.  Enter into discussions with your child on topics introduced in club.  Show your interest in club activities.
  6. Attend the events to which family members are invited.

A typical club meeting:

*Games:  where competition is not emphasized.

*Songfest:  a time to sing fun, spiritual songs together.

*Bible exploration: enabling club members to discover what God’s Word says to them today.  Bible awards are completed together in club through fun experiences such as role-play, object lessons, skits, self-discovery games and creative expressions.

*Award Activities:  include projects and skills designed to help children gain self-esteem through successful completion of handbook awards together in club.  Variety meets the needs and interests of all of the children over a period of time, while introducing new skills that often become life hobbies or careers.
